November is National Family Engagement Month, and at Stone Middle School, we are proud to shine a spotlight on Mrs. Denisse Stein, our extraordinary family liaison. Mrs. Stein's role is not just a job; it's a commitment to building bridges of understanding and collaboration between our school and the diverse families we serve. As we celebrate this special month, we take a closer look at the impact Mrs. Stein has had on our community.

Welcome, Sonya Williams, the new principal of Stone Middle School!

We enjoyed welcoming our incoming 7th grade students from our feeder elementary schools this week. They were greeted in the gym with a Pep Rally, heard our Band, Orchestra, and Choral students perform, met our administrators and counselors, got to ask questions to our student panel and toured the building. We can't wait to have them join Stone MS in August!

Mr. Dickason's ESOL Civics class worked on a Showcase Project where they had an opportunity to research the culture, geography, and politics of countries all over the world. After creating a presentation about their chosen country, the students created educational activities to display their research and engage others in learning about the country. In addition to showing their slides, the students created a paper airplane decorated in the colors and symbols of their country, an educational board game, and a marble run “roller coaster” to represent their country. Congratulations to Mr. Quinlan and our amazing choral students who have done a tremendous job all year. This week, they showcased their talent one last time in their Spring Choral Concert. We are so proud of all their hard work. Hear them sing below!

Meet the Portrait of a Panther winners for the week of May 30, 2022

Our 8th grade students were excited to participate in a Rising 9th grade orientation field trip to Westfield High School this past Monday. They heard from a student panel, learned about clubs and activities, toured the building and met members of the Westfield team.

We are so proud of our 86 7th grade students who were inducted into the NJHS earlier this week. Additionally 62 8th grade students received their pin for maintaining strong academic excellence, completing their service hours and adhering to the five pillars of NJHS: scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. Thank you to Ms. Bricker, Ms. Deal and Ms. Egbers for your work as sponsors of NJHS and for providing so many opportunities for our students this year.

We have been so fortunate to have several Westfield High School Seniors interning with us. Last week, they supported our staff BBQ and this week they joined the Panther News crew serving as panel members to get our students excited about Westfield!

Stone Student Services has implemented a Student of the Month recognition program where students who have exemplified characteristics of respect, kindness, honesty and/or academic excellence over each month will be congratulated on the Panther News show and will receive a certificate and magnet for their recognition.
