Inclusive School Week

Inclusive Schools Week is a nationally recognized week that focuses on diversity and inclusion in the classroom. It is a week to celebrate the progress that schools have made in providing supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population.

Our Panther Block lessons this week were created by students in our Leadership class that focused on Diversity and Inclusion.

These lessons were both very engaging and meaningful as students were able to

  • participate in simulutions
  • decorate puzzle pieces that hightlighed the uniqueness of each student at Stone to celebrate who they are
  • hear quotes over our morning announcements in languages represented at Stone
  • and participated in colored theme Spirit Days.

Monday - Red for Respect

"El respeto es una de las mayores expresiones de amor". - Miguel Angel Ruiz

“Respect is one of the greatest expressions of love.” – Miguel Angel Ruiz

Tuesday - Blue for Belonging

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” -Helen Keller

Wednesday - Green for Gifts

AJ McCarron was quarterback for the University of Alabama National Champion football team. While there, he noticed AJ Starr, a student at Alabama with Cerebral Palsy. AJ Starr had a love of football that caused a friendship to be born between the two students. Students had an opportunity to discuss with their classmates how this video is an example of inclusion.
