wellness cartTo support Wellness through ESSER, our SEL Coordinators, Marissa Bricker and Katie Marrefi, put together six wellness carts that teachers can check-out and bring to their classrooms.

Each wellness cart is stocked with the same items. Items include bubbles (for deep breathing), kinetic sand, aromatherapy, string for making friendship bracelets, coloring pages, paint by sticker sheets, wooden puzzles, and fidgets.

These are all items that support mindfulness. Students are relying more and more on technology, so the carts allow students to engage in hands-on activities and take brain breaks. Brain breaks are a mental break that allow students time to reset, which can reduce stress, anxiety, and frustration and  can also increase productivity and focus in students of all ages.

Teachers have used the carts as a way for students to destress before and after tests. They also use the carts as a brain break between class activities.

Many of the activities provided in the cart allow students to develop creativity skills and sharpen social skills.
